The challenge
Budgeting that feels smart, without feeling complicated.
Nikola is a first-time founder with a clear prototype and a high bar for collaboration. SimplyTrack needed secure auth, personalized onboarding, reliable transaction CRUD, and AI that could categorize spend and answer natural-language money questions, without putting API keys or payment logic on the client.
The approach
React Native foundation. Firebase backbone. OpenAI where it counts.
We built SimplyTrack on Expo/React Native with Firebase Auth + Firestore, Cloud Functions as a secure bridge to OpenAI, and Stripe for premium subscriptions.
Delivery followed a clear roadmap: auth foundation, smart onboarding + manual transactions, AI chat and auto-categorization (including voice-to-text paths), then dashboard aggregation and Pro feature gating, with continuous Expo Go demos for Nikola’s feedback loop.
The outcome
An AI budgeting product built for iteration with the founder.
SimplyTrack shipped as a structured mobile product: secure accounts, transaction tracking, AI categorization/queries, dashboard insight, and a monetization path, designed from Nikola’s prototype as the UI source of truth.
